Real Experience Learning with LabSoft and our training systems

We are glad you have chosen our training systems and the accompanying learning software, LabSoft. To get you started right away, here we will show you step by step how to install and use LabSoft.

Why use the learning software LabSoft?

LabSoft is a crucial component in Real Experience Learning. The learning platform serves as a local learning environment for our training systems and all LabSoft courses, making it a central part of the holistic didactic concept of Lucas-Nuelle.

LabSoft is compatible with established learning platforms such as Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard, making the application of LabSoft content especially flexible. As long as your platform supports the SCORM standard, LabSoft can be seamlessly integrated into the Learning Management System (LMS) of your choice.

You will receive the software on a USB stick. Unpack it and proceed as follows:

  • Insert the USB stick into a USB port on your PC or notebook.

Frequently Asked Questions about LabSoft

Yes, administrator rights are required to install the software.

No, a server is not required. You can store the courses and user data on any computer or NAS (Network Attached Storage).

The installation routine must then be performed multiple times in the desired language. The available languages of the courses are listed at the beginning of the installation.

When starting LabSoft for the first time, create a user account first. Use any username. Optionally, you can assign a password for this user. If a password is used, it must be entered at each login of the user in LabSoft.

You can delete the password with the help of the Classroom Manager in the “Manager” program. In the “User” section, select the user. With the option “Delete password”, delete the password. If necessary, the user must first be entered into the user list with his login name.

Check whether the device driver is installed on the PC to which the device was connected and whether the device was properly recognized by Windows. If necessary, reinstall the device driver.

In most cases, it is due to insufficient access rights of the client PCs to the network drive. Check if the users have sufficient permissions on the network drive. More information on the required permissions can be found in the LabSoft installation guide.

The old version of LabSoft is also installed when installing the current version. However, it no longer appears in the Windows start menu. If the installation path for the program files has not been changed, it is located in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\LN\LabSoft\ and can be started by running the file LabSoftX.exe.

Tip: To easily start the old version, pin the file to the taskbar or create a shortcut.

The courses can be updated over the Internet. Download the update program from our website and run it. The program identifies the installed courses and offers you newer versions for updating.

Note: An SSH connection (port 22) is required for the connection to our update server. If this port is blocked, an update using the program is not possible. In this case, contact our service department (service@lucas-nuelle.de)

If an installation of LabSoft has already been carried out on the PC, the selection window is no longer displayed. Uninstall LabSoft and all courses and then perform the installation again. Then the window for selecting the installation type will appear again. Alternatively, you can use a PC that has not yet had LabSoft installed for the network installation.

The sample solutions to the learning programs are located on the installation media. However, they are not installed. In current installation media, the solutions to all courses are in the “Solutions” folder of the medium. In older media (CDs / DVDs), the solutions are in the “Solutions” directory of the respective language version of the course.

The sample solutions are uploaded to LabSoft using the “Add Solution” menu item for the registered user.
